The Top 5 Playgrounds or Parks in Greater Flint!

By Christina Feldermann November 7, 2018

The Greater Flint area is lucky to have so many great parks and playgrounds for kids. My kids have swung, spun, and raced through many of them ... and definitely have their favorites!

Here’s a list of our family’s top five favorite parks and playgrounds in our community and the reasons we love them:

1. For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum

Location: 2142 N. Genesee Road, Burton, MI 48509

Features:

  • Handicap parking spaces
  • Paved pathway from parking area to the Visitor’s Center
  • Paved pathway from Visitor’s Center to the Ground Water Pond to the Pavilion
  • Barrier free Treehouse
  • Accessible bathrooms inside Visitor’s Center during Visitor’s center hours
  • Handicap parking spaces and a paved pathway in the Sugarbush Area
  • Treehouse
  • Visitor's Center
  • Hiking trails
  • Restrooms

What my kids love: The visitor's center full of fun stuff to look at, all the bridges to run on and of course, the awesome tree house!

What I love: It's an absolutely beautiful park with so much to look at and enjoy. I love the option of having hiking trails to walk when my kids are feeling adventurous or have the option of just doing "kid stuff" at the treehouse and visitor's center. The community garden is amazing and they donate so much food! There's also restrooms, which is a huge plus!

You can find more info on the park here.

2. Creasey Bicentennial Park

Location: 1505 E. Grand Blanc Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48439

Features:

  • Tons of parking
  • Sledding hill
  • Playscapes
  • Paved walking/Biking trail
  • Restrooms
  • Dog park
  • Splash pad
  • Soccer fields
  • Pavilion rentals

What my kids love: The playground! There are a couple and the "secret" one in the pavilion across from the parking lot for the soccer fields is their favorite!

What I love: Their walking trail is by far my favorite for a daily walk! It's great for walking your dog, going solo or bringing your kids along.  It's fully paved and goes all the way through the middle school and ends at the GM center for a total of 4+ miles (if you start at the sledding hill). There's also a beautiful bridge along the trail that sits over some pretty cool-looking swamp land.

3. Jack N. Abernathy Regional Park

  • Wooden play structure
